Our still cider is so versatile that there are few occasions where it’s not perfect.
It was originally blended so that it could be mulled with our Red Peppercorn and Hibiscus herbal infusions. This mulled cider is a brilliant winter warmer for Halloween and Bonfire Night parties. During the festive season it goes down like Christmas in a cup!
However, we subsequently discovered it had many fans who also liked it on its own. As a chilled Spring / Summer drink it works so well on several levels. First it tastes great, very smooth and fruity. Second, its packaging is so convenient. You can leave it in the fridge and just fill a glass using the tap to drink at home. Or thanks to its handles and lightweight material (without an awkward outer box) you can easily take it away with you to picnics, barbecues (especially if you’re charring anything pork, from fat juicy chops to good old bangers), festivals, camping trips. You get the idea, just grab it and go!
We employ the same wine-style fermentation method for this as we do for our sparkling ciders. However, we only use Russet apples and blend it in a special way to bring out their distinctive flavours. The Earl’s Reserve has a rich golden colour, with a silky mouthfeel and notes of baked apple (these aromas are enhanced when it’s heated up) with a touch of butterscotch caramel in there too.
