There is nothing better in the winter than a warming yourself up with a cup delicious of mulled cider. Charrington’s signature recipe, made with Earl’s Reserve Still Cider and Red Peppercorn and hibiscus mulling pyramids, is packed with flavour and warmth.
The Earl’s Reserve cider is made from our finest russet apples which we allow to mature to their most flavoursome before pressing them. The spices are a unique twist on the traditional mulling spice mix, with the hibiscus turning the cider crimson and the red peppercorns adding extra warmth.
As well as having a wonderful depth of flavour, our mulled cider is so easy to make. You simply heat up the cider (simmer, don’t boil) then pop in a pyramid of spices and allow it to mull for a few minutes (just like making a cuppa!).
Don’t just take our word for it – the judges at Great Taste awarded it a STAR!
This winter warmer has quite an interesting history. It is derived from Wassail, the hot and spiced cider beverage consumed as part of the ancient Wassaling ritual. Traditionally held on Old Twelvey Night (17th January) when people would drink, dance and sing to the trees so that the harvest would be bountiful later in the year.
Our Mulled cider is perfect for serving up at Bonfire Night and Halloween parties as well as throughout the festive season. It really is Christmas in a cup!
